Today’s Typography Tuesdays is timely, not because it’s the soundtrack to Bride For Rent, but because it’s Chinese New Year in a couple of days.
First, a confession. I had a major LSS over Yeng Constantino’s “Chinito” when it was released last year. Aside from its catchy beat, the lyrics managed to single out every detail pertaining to the eyes in such a cutesy manner. It’s the ideal soundtrack to girls who are crushing on cute chinito guys. I’m one of them so I should know, haha! I like Chinito guys who look strikingly unassuming/innocent (yet another case of being specific), so the celebrities aren’t really my type. Enchong Dee’s cute, though.
My favorite parts off “Chinito” are the verses. It’s starts off playful, and a bit demure:
Mapapansin mo ba
Kaya ang tulad ko
Kahit nasa sulok lang ng iyong mga mata
Mahuli mo kaya ang pagsulyap sayo
Kahit hindi naman ako ang iyong kaharap
Balang araw ay, malalaman mo rin
The second verse is still cute, but now with a hint of frustration and longing. Haha.
Kung hindi inaantok
Kung hindi nasisilaw
Pwede bang malaman ko
May pag-asa pa kayang matatanaw
Bakit ba ang pungay ng bintana ng iyong mundo
Isang ngiti mo lang sakin
Ay baon ko hanggang sa pag-uwi
