Miso Katsu by Yabu

They say life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I’ve never really liked miso soup until Yabu, so might as well take a chance at another item on the menu that has the word “miso” on it…

I was torn between ordering this or the cream dory, but the plating/tray was too attractive to resist.

A closer look

When it arrived on the table, I wasn’t sure whether to try it right away. I ended up digging into my bowl of cabbage (I like it swimming in the goma sauce) before I tasted my order. Seated across me was my mom, who was looking at me as I took a bite of the katsu slightly drenched in the sauce. I was half-expecting a flavor my taste buds would reject, but it was surprisingly sweet, tangy and real good. Killer combo. It’s a great alternative to my usual rosu tonkatsu!

Oh, to coincide with this order is a record-breaking Yabu record for me. I had two servings of everything with this order, so there must be magic in every tray of miso katsu… Any Yabu fan should try this at least once!
