Pinoy Favorites

We are a couple of weeks away from the -ber months that signify the beginning of the Christmas season here in the Philippines. Nothing like being early when it comes to eating desserts that are more popular come the latter half of the year.

Puto Bumbong

Puto Bumbong

The puto bumbong above is chewy to the core and smothered with so much butter. Meanwhile, this bibingka was different from previous ones I have encountered. Think of a huge muffin with cheese and itlog na pula.

Puto sulot is less common than puto bumbong and bibingka. If you chance upon it, give it a try! Best eaten with niyog, it’s a sweet rice cake also cooked in the bamboo tubes used for puto bumbong.
