Department Store Beauty Finds

Aka my #GreatNorthernSale beauty haul (except for the Revlon makeup, which I got at Watsons for half the price!). My tendency to be frugal clearly shows whenever I shop around for Things That Make Girls Look and Feel Pretty (read: fashion and beauty). I subscribe to the saying “Less is more,” which can also mean “Spend less and buy more!” What is isparkleen logic.

First up, eyeliner.

I initially chose elf’s waterproof eye pencil, but decided against it at the last minute. Since the lines to the cashier took forever to move, I had ample time to test products at the beauty counters. It was a toss between Majolica Majorca and Etude House. I chose the latter because it’s cheaper (Php 180-ish) versus MM’s Php 800+ price tag. Besides, I’ve tested some Etude House products already, so the probability of it being of questionable quality was next to impossible. (Note: I heard Majolica Majorca’s products are good, but I find it terribly expensive for eyeliner.)

I also bought a Marionnaud brush which I plan to use with my Revlon Photoready liquid foundation. Most beauty bloggers rave about the N32 brush, but I’m not sure whether that will work for fluid foundation so might as well buy based on the name.

This one, I got for around Php 500 at Watson’s. I am not sure why this was on sale, but who am I to complain, really.

I sure hope this shade perfectly matches my skin because I keep on purchasing not-so-exact shades for Revlon’s other lines (such as the new Photoready in liquid form). It’s not that bothersome, but getting the perfect shade shouldn’t be an impossibility, right? If only beauty brands would come up with samples for their foundation lines so that potential buyers can check their makeup after a few hours before making the purchase!

There are no shots of me sampling these products because I am not a beauty blogger I haven’t opened any of these products! Haha. I plan to “roadtest” the foundation on an ordinary day to see how it looks like after a couple of hours. I might post a review (IF I find time to take photos of swatches, haha).
