One of the character traits I disliked in Popoy of One More Chance was his being a control freak, which extended to Basha’s eating habits. A guy removing chicken skin for you? Oh please, just back off. Haha. He wouldn’t be a good date to Korean chicken joints like 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken in SM North EDSA.
Double frying doesn’t seem healthy but the end justifies the means for this one. If this is the way to get ultra-crispy chicken skin, then by all means, double fry.
My friend and I tried the Chicken Chop Meal (Php 209.00). This set comes with two pieces of deboned chicken thigh in either soy garlic or spicy glaze, your choice of fries or rice and a regular sized drink. Not bad.
They threw in a slice of lemon/lime, too.
The chicken is surprisingly tender and moist. The soy glaze has a slight sweetness to it, making it a good pairing for rice. It’s not as crunch and oily as I expected (and I don’t know if that means it’s also healthier-asa pa ako), but it didn’t really bother me because tasty chicken skin is tasty chicken skin. The price is steeper than their main competitor but the taste is distinct; for sure they will attract their own set of loyal customers. I’ll surely come back and try their other offerings but I hope they open some more branches in the metro (and stick to this interior style).
