Regret, Forget

I found myself making a new playlist the other day. Currently running low on creativity nowadays so I temporarily named it “Career-related.” In MM-speak, curating a playlist is a clear indicator that something’s up.

Around 5 years ago, I made a playlist with 68 songs all dedicated to my dream “job.” Do note that it was for my on-the-job training applications. I was absolutely frustrated over the fact that I wasn’t called right away. Who would not feel bad if you submitted your application in February and your classmates who submitted late March already got callbacks? To cut the story short, I still got the OJT I wanted and learned a lot. The frustrating moments were well worth it because it made me realize that TV is not for me. HAH.

Because of my desperate self, I used to come up with interpretations for seemingly unrelated tracks. A great example is “Just So You Know” by Jesse McCartney. Love? Career? Haha, gets?

So let me sum up my feelings with some lines from my current plays:

How many times can I break till I shatter? Over the line can’t define what I’m after I always turn the car around

—O.A.R., “Shattered”

Wanna feel that rhythm, feel that drum
Let my heart beat louder
Let my heart speak louder than my head

—Charice, “Louder”

Tell me what is this thing that I feel like I’m missing
And why can’t I let it go
There’s gotta be more to life…
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me

Stacie Orrico, “(There’s Gotta Be) More to Life”

And maybe this song is telling me something:

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you’re gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you’re feeling more and more frustrated
And you’re getting all kind of impatient waiting

We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There’s no need to rush
It’s like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It’s gonna happen when it’s
Supposed to happen and we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You’re confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

Jordin Sparks, “One Step at a Time”

I find myself in regret despite the highs. I must be really confused, disoriented and unsure…. yes, even up to this day.
