Lunch at Spiral: Part One

Celebrated Father’s Day in advance at Spiral in Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. This is the ultimate nomnom experience. I believe they offer the largest buffet spread in Manila.

The last time we ate here, I had countless slices of salmon sashimi. I’m very thankful that it didn’t upset my stomach. This time around, I actually did some research online on what to eat so that I don’t miss anything I might like. I learned that the hard way when we had a surprise buffet lunch at Cafe Ilang-Ilang in Manila Hotel (try the coffee, heard it’s good!). My Sofitel gameplan was to eat less of those raw delicacies so that I don’t feel bloated early on.

I’m still learning the ropes in shooting with wide aperture which doesn’t go well with scenes like the one below, but someone’s gotta learn through practice!

The funny thing about Spiral is that when you enter, the first thing you’d see is the dessert section.

If sweets are your weakness, you’re doomed. You must not start with dessert unless you simply want to start with sweets and you have room for more food later.

Spiral’s dessert station is a total “stomach grabber” as it would really tease my appetite to check that specific station first above all else! It is truly a wow experience to munch on those mini cakes and mango crepes :) I hope that when the new Spiral re-opens this November, the buffet spread, especially the dessert station, is going to be as delectable and extensive as the old Spiral. By the way, Sofitel is running a photo contest on Facebook for Spiral, if you have photos of you and your family dining in at the old Spiral, you may opt to submit an entry there, here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/SofitelManila/app_372342376178592.
