Getting It Cheap: Postpaid Lines and End-of-Season Sales

Just yesterday, the thought of Globe having another postpaid promo crossed my mind. I snooped around the Internet and woah, turns out that I’m right. Incidentally, it’s sale time in the metro, so I guess it’s fitting to discuss these two budget-friendly promotions in one post.

Postpaid Lines

Globe started right on track with their brilliant postpaid concept, My Super Plan. It’s quite similar to unlimited offers by another network, but Globe’s promo takes pride in offering the subscriber a customized unlimited plan. The choices offered for the unlimited services were affordable enough, although the all-you-can offers are only good for calls, text messages and connections to fellow Globe/TM/Tattoo subscribers. Application period ended on June 30, and as it turns out, they followed it up with yet another postpaid plan that is sure to convert many to the network, or existing Globe prepaid subscribers to postpaid.

Clicking on the Postpaid option under the Mobile menu of their site, you will be welcomed by an animation with text that says “Want to get more than what you pay for? A BIGGER, BETTER, postpaid plan is coming!”. The latest promo is dubbed as Fully Loaded. The name makes me hungry, though–oh wait we’re not talking about food here. These are all-consumable plans starting at Php 299. After choosing the plan, you can choose freebies to go along with your consumable amount per month. Some plans even offer free handsets! At first, this made me disappointed as I availed of My Super Plan but when I think about it, these various plans are made to cater to more people. We all have our different lifestyles and mobile phone usage, and I guess that is what Globe is presenting (which of course, equals to more Globe subscribers). Spoken like a true-blue Globe subscriber since 1999!

End-of-Season Sales

Today is the first day of July. Major malls in the metro are having their end-of-season sales. Tomorrow also marks the opening of Forever 21 in SM Megamall and I heard that they would open at 9:30 am to cater to those who’d like to be part of the first 200 who will be getting Php 200 worth of gift certificates. Honestly, the brand’s arrival in our shores is very exciting but if you are going to be surrounded with women who have violent tendencies when they don’t get what they want or when they don’t get to be first… you ought to back off. The MRT-3 is a classic example. If in trains you get to experience the wrath of women (in pushing other people and occasional disrespect shown in various forms), it’s very possible when they’re out there at the mall, scouring for the best finds.

Anyway, here is a short list of end-of-season sales I’ve seen/heard/read about from various sources:

Powerplant Mall
July 1 to July 4, 2010

Shangri-La Plaza Mall
July 4 to 20

SM Malls (as far as I know, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia and The Podium)
July 2 to 11

Bayo
June 30 to 13

Jellybean
June 25 to August 1

Mango, Zara and Topshop most likely have their own end-of-season sales ongoing as well. These are just two more reasons for Pinoys to celebrate.
